My own spark of Divine Fire !
Loreto Dharamtala’ s adaptation of Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw and its cinematic version, My
Fair Lady was staged on the 22nd and 23rd of November, 2024, at that Loreto House School Hall.
The actors , singers and dancers surpassed all expectations as did the creative hearts and minds that
worked with utmost dedication behind the scenes.
The evening began with the welcome address presented by the Middle and Senior Section Coordinators
followed by the lighting of the inaugural lamp and a welcome dance.
Our Chief Guest on the first day was Mrs Angela Ghosh, a highly acclaimed educationist of Kolkata. On
the second day, we had Dr Charlotte Simpson Veigas, Associate Professor of St Xavier's College. The
other Special Guests included our Loreto Sisters, including Sr Powlin, the Secretary of our Managing
Committee, Principals and members of the Loreto Education Board.
On both days, the programme ended with the Chief Guest’s address followed by the Principal’s Vote of
Thanks and the Loreto Chorus.
The play received much appreciation from the audience and was an important milestone for the school,
especially since we had attempted to stage a literary marvel from English Literature.
The entire production was an in house one, with all the children contributing towards its success with
their creativity and ideas. Memories of the concert will always be cherished by us.
